Hi All,

I am new to this list and also will tell you that my braille knowledge is
very basic only extending as far as knowing the alphabet and a few words. I
am currently setting up a seven year old index basic-s printer for someone
and am having a few problems withit.

Firstly I just wanted to know if the firmware onit is up to date. Currently
it is announcing that it has firmware 10.31. I can update the firmware if
necessary but if someone more knowledgable on here could enlighten me on
this it would be great.

My next problem is that I have installed a demo of the latest Duxbury on the
printer. I have attempted to make all the necessary settings changes but I
am sure I don't have it mastered by any means. I have installed the printer
drivers using the index utility for doing so. I have also installed win
braille 5.0 and it does print out pages but when I try and get duxbury to
print off pages, it just sits there after I translate and invoke the
embosser command.

I know I must have the correct drivers installed as I also downloaded a copy
of win Braille 5 and while I don't think its producing proper output on my
Braille paper it is nevertheless responding to my command to emboss. When
the sheet is printed off it just has some Braille characters printed on it
either on the top middle of the page or left top side of the paper.

The file I am printing off for a test run is just three lines of Braille.
The first two lines have 9 characters each of the alphabet and the third
line has eight. Each character has a double space between it and the next
one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Paul.
