Hi. Thanks for your suggestion. I turned off the translated line. I am using
six-dot direct input. When I start my new document, the cursor is on the first
cell of the display. But as soon as I type a character, that character is
placed in cell 2, with cell 1 blank, which means that my display has shifted
over. I have no idea why this would happen.

I have used braille displays with DBT for years.

Here is how to see what your 40 cell line looks like:

1. Translate the document into braille.

2. Make sure the "view translated line" is turned off.

3. Make sure your embosser and document settings for the page width is 40,
not 42.

4. Make sure "view codes" is turned off.

5. To read the document, use the line up or line down buttons. Another
words, when you have read a line, don't press the advance button but press
the command which will make your display go down to the beginning of the
next line. I don't have an Alva and I don't know what screen reader you are
using so I can't be more specific.

I hope this helps.
