Aloha listers,

I know that many people have versapoints and love them. I think that sometimes there can be a batch of units that just have a glitch. Having said this, I know it doesn't make it less frustrating. I personally have not had good experiences with Versapoints.

I am an Index Basic person. They have made great progress in the last year toward getting a nicer dot. One of the things I like about them is that they are lighter than the versapoint. This matters to me living out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean when I have to ship them back for maintenance. My company now has three Index Basics and we are extremely happy. We run two from an A-B switch so that we can run two different jobs at the same time.
They are also faster than the year-old versapoint duo that I borrowed. I also have received excellent support from Sighted Electronics.

That's my very prejudiced opinion.

I am having trouble with getting a VersaPoint Duo to work. I sent in my old
Versa Point (10 years old) to update to the Duo. I just tried my third machine
and even with Tech support I cannot get one to work. Is there a better machine
out there? The first one I had my salesman set up. The sensor wasn't working
properly, the second one worked for 2 hours and jammed twice then went dead.
The third one is used and I bought new but it doesn't work either. I even
called the Tech support to run through the set up and install with me. Nothing.
What is easy to run and is a little more stress free? I can't even get to my
new Good Feel or Graph-It to try them. I am an aide for one blind student in
the 9th grade and am using the Brailler to get his work out. HELP!
