However, the basic D is easier to use for a new user because it does not require the use of a keypad for settings as does the Juliet and the Versapoint Duo. It is also smaller and while the speech is not great, it has speech output as well. It is probably as fast as the Juliet if not faster. If one prefers softer braille, it is not as sharp, although the manufacturing company has done some work with the feel of the braille.

I might also add I believe the newer Duos can also be provided with speech output.

The Blazer is intended to be a smaller more compact embosser for embossing one-sided braille. And, it is fairly easy to use, not requiring the use of a keypad.

So, there are some other points to consider when considering embossers.

Good morning David and listers:

Okay! I'll stick my "three cents" in and say this: I have both a Juliet Pro and a VersaPoint Duo and can honestly say that these to embossers are good embossers. I've had my
problems with both but as a general rule, i like both of them. I am having a lsight problem with my versapoint duo but I still like it. I've had both the earlier version of the versapoint, the single-sided and now the duo.

What I do like about the Juliet pro, is that it does have the talking menus and i personally, find that very helpful Some people don't care for the speech but that's my personal preference. On the other hand, the VersaPoint duo is faster than the Juliet and for some reason, I find that I like the way it formats my braille on the page better than i do the juliet. I can set the juliet exactly as i have the versapoint and I find that i like the layout of the braille on the versapoint page better than i do the juliet.

I have no use for the other embossers i've seen out there such as the Basic D and the Blazer but hey, whatever works. I'm not putting these embossers down, i'm just saying that i feel that both the juliet and the versapoint put out much cleaner braille.

So, don't you guys get upset with me! I'm just telling you my opinion on these two embossers. As David said, it's truly a matter of preference and what we feel meets our needs.
