It sounds like you are using the Literary template, which will spell out plus, minus, equals, etc. Use the Textbook template, or if you have DBT 10.5 you can also use the BANA template. As George said, you will also need to specify Technical Context so DBT knows it is math.

Hi V,

I'm no math expert, but I suspect you need to use the Technical Context Code found in Layout, Math Codes.  However, I'm sure the experts will chip in here soon.

As regards your keyboard, unfortunately not all keyboards will support 6 key entry. (More later)

Make sure you open a braille document, otherwise it won't be available at all.

To confirm you are in 6 key entry mode, look at the status bar at the bottom, extreme right.  It should say "Keys:6"

If it says "Keys:1", press the F2 key to toggle in and out of 6 key mode.  (Press Ctrl + F6 to ensure you are in Braille view)

The FDS and JKL keys should now be active.  If they do not work correctly, then the usual solution is to buy the cheapest keyboard you can find.  These generally do not have any intelligence which prevents multiple keys being pressed down at the same time.

George.

Subject: [duxuser] Re: math

I am transcribing some sample tests for some students and the duxbury 10.5 program spells the word for the action in the problem instead of putting the sign in the document. Can anyone help me to make the neccessary changes. another problem is that I can't seem to get the six key entry to work on my desktop. I have it checked in the menu but when I try to edit an already translated file or even one which has not been translated, it doesn't work. I would greatly appreciate some assistance from anyone who knows how to fix these problems.

Thanks!
