The thing is that I do not want to insert svprg code every time because I never 
want an indent.  I'd been inserting the code and simply wanted it to happen 
every time without my having to do it.

You don't have to delete the [p] code, and in fact you shouldn't.  You just 
need to insert the following code at the beginning of the document:
[svprg1]
That code gets rid of the indent, and saves you from having to do anything 
to the paragraph style.
