George,

More specifics. Right now I still have 10.5 but will soon install 10.6. I
just finished the Carroll Center course using 10.5 but haven't had time to
upgrade yet. So, either 10.5 or 10.6.

So, can I use an mPower for direct braille input using that as the input device
instead of six-key entry with either of these versions? I gather I can use it
as a display to read the braille, although I haven't tried that.

I have just signed up for a braille transcription course, and need to prepare
files for possible e-mailing. Perky Duck was mentioned, but I already have
DBT. I'm just looking for a way to input other than six-key because my
keyboard won't do that. Plus I find six-key cumbersome just because of the
"feel" of the keys. Smile. For this course, I can't use the translator.
Smile.

  Hi Jean,

What version of DBT are you using? I can then be more precise with an
possible solution.

  George.

I just answered my own questionSmile. It's a simple braille editor like an
electronic Perkins, but Jaws reads the braille as Ascii braille. Plus is
doesn't help because I still can't use six-key entry.

Next question then. Can I hook up a BrailleNote and use that to input
braille directly into DBT or Perky? So instead of using the six-key entry,
could I use an external braille device for that?

Not sure if it's appropriate to ask, but since this is a Duxbury list...

Is Perky Duck accessible using Jaws? I can't use six-key entry with my
keyboard and am looking for an alternative for direct braille entry on the PC.
