When you press CTRL+Left bracket, JAWS should say "Enter code and
parameters. Edit." You then type your code excluding the brackets and
press Enter. Another method to try to enter a code is to press F9.

the brackets are not on the screen for me to enter my code between them. At
least, if they show on the screen, jaws is not announcing them. Where they
should be, I'm finding blank spaces. If I type in a code anyway, DBT says
my
codes were not entered properly. Also, as I arrow down or right or left,
every line is repeated by jaws at least twice and sometime the cursor will
not move at all. I checked the view settings and both full page and print
font are checked. I tried to uncheck print font but there is apparently no
way to perform that action. Does anyone have any ideas what might be going
on?
