Alan, can I suggest that you don't use the ptys codes at all to manage runovers.

I find these are better managed using the hi code, where you can be very
specific about your margins and runovers. It also allows for an hierarchical
approach to paragraphing.

The code is:

[hiL:V:R:I:J:K:M:N:O:P]

L = left margin

V = runover margin

R = right margin offset

Then

I = left margin increment

J = runover increment

K = right margin increment

M, N, O, P set upper limits

To actually answer your question.

To search and replace codes:

1. Make sure the codes are visible using the F3 toggle

2. Press F6, and with the cursor in the "text to find" box press ctrl-[ to
start the code. Now type in the code you want to replace

3. Move to the "replace with" box and press ctrl-[ to start the replacement
code, and put in code

4. Press OK and DBT will do its search/replace.

Subject: [duxuser] ptys commands disappearing/search replace codes

I am formatting some questions using ptys codes to manage line run-overs.
In my experience every version of DBT including 11.2 will (it seems)
indiscriminately delete some following ptys/ptye codes if one is deleted. This
is very annoying.
Is there any way to delete just a single ptys code without others disappearing?
I also need to search/replace codes through the whole document eg search ptys11
/ replace with ptys12.
How do I do this as F6 only seems to work with text?
TIA
Alan
