We had a query about this this morning. I thought the following might help
others who are attempting to update Chrome or even to see if an update is
needed.
Note: Unlike other software, Google Chrome updates automatically when
restarted.
If you would like to explore and see how to get a Chrome update when
available read on!
Normally Chrome updates happen in the background when you close and reopen
your computer's browser. But if you haven't closed your browser in a while,
you might see a pending update:
1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. If you have some sight, at the top right, look at the icon "More".
3. If an update is pending, the icon will be coloured:
.Green: An update was released less than 2 days ago.
.Orange: An update was released about 4 days ago.
.Red: An update was released at least a week ago.
If you do not have sight:
1. Launch Google chrome;
2. Press the left alt key;
3. Press up-arrow once or twice until you get to the Help submenu of
Settings;
4. Press right arrow to open the submenu
5. Press Enter on "About";
6. As the dialog opens you may hear "checking for updates" but this
happens immediately the app opens and is easy to miss;
7. You will hear "Google Chrome is up to date" If that is the case.
To Update Google Chrome:
1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. Click Help and then About Google Chrome.
4. Click Update Google Chrome.
.Important: If you can't find this button, you're on the latest version.
5. Click Relaunch.
The browser saves your opened tabs and windows and reopens them automatically
when it restarts.
