Welcome on board the Cork Tech Train there were 8 happy passengers
travelling this morning.
We had a new member this morning. Anne-Marie was telling us all about the
technology she uses in her daily life. Anne-Marie said how amazing Jackie
was as she sent her good information on screen readers. The group all agreed
on Jackie's brilliants. We spoke about siri and dictation plus cleaning your
phone speakers.
Anne-Marie like Jackie and Joanne also has a Euffy Robotic Vacuum cleaner.
Jackie was saying she labelled the buttons so now she can send James into any
room to do his thing, this is done via the app Alexa is unable to do this.
Joanne and Anne-Marie will report back on how to change his voice.
Anne-Marie asked about blind square so this started the navigation app
discussion. Jackie likes blind square while others like sounscape and their
relations. We all agree that further guidance is needed on these apps as no
one uses them to their full potential.
We were enlightening Anne-Marie about signing up for FB-Exchange. So she was
told to google FB-Exchange and then type subscribe. Jackie offered to help
if needed.
There was something about Stuarts emails coming in weirdly. This note
taker curled up in a ball at this point and whimpered when HTML, UTF8
tables got mentioned.
I'm back from the sniffles. Paul asked about editing a text message. Ken told
him to select the text and paste it into a new message and edit it that way.
Stuart said about trying the Orcam and Envision Glasses, he was impressed
with the envision glasses, there seems to be more features available on this
compared to orcam. Envision seems to be adding plenty of features and we hope
at some point they get navilens.
We discussed banking apps and what works and what doesn't work. Stuart said
the TSB app has gotten an update and it appears more accessible. there is
some features in AIB that will only work when screen recognition is on. the
jury was out on could a card be frozen in Bank of Ireland seems bank of
Ireland isn't overly friendly.
The touch pads in shops for paying by card got a wee mention, plus the way
McDonalds has taken counter service away and all must be done by computer now
and again its all touch screen.
The meeting ended
