Subject: [fb-exchange] Creating a restore point in windows 10
Hi all,
following the discussion in the tech meeting, I'm coming up here with a guide
on how to create a restore point of your system. Although these restore
points are created by the system automatically - or it should, at least -
manually creating one will ensure one is present when needed.
Instructions for Windows 10.
To create a restore point, follow the steps:
1. Press the Win Key and start typing "restore" - the first result you get
should be "Create a restore point". Hit enter and it will open a new
dialog: System Properties
2. Tab till you get to the list of available disk devices. Use arrows to
select the C: drive that's the system drive.
3. Hit tab key to move to a button called "Configure..". Press it. A new
dialog will open: "System Protection for C:"
4. You need to enable the protection in case it's not yet. Move to find
either Disable protection or Enable protection, in which case there's nothing
more to do. If it's the disable radio button you find, use the arrow keys to
switch to enable.
5. Tab and hit OK to save and close the window.
6. Going back to the previous window, navigate to the button called "Create"
to create the restore point. Press it and a new dialog will open.
7. Enter a name for the restore point (usually I use the date) and hit Create
button.
8. All done.
Using the restore point you just created requires you to put the system in
recovery mode. I could guide you through the process but I am not sure if
it's accessible (I need to check). It's worth mentioning to the person
assisting you that a restore point is available and they should know how to
use it.
