Just checking the procedure described in my previous email (attached below)
I found this alternative series of steps more meaningful in my case:
1. open Firefox
2. press control+shift+b to open the bookmarks library
3. press left alt to open the library menu bar
4. Arrow right to "import and backup"
5. Press enter and choose "Backup"
6. Press enter on "backup" to back up to your computer at your preferred
location.
7. To back up to a html file don't press backup but arrow down to "Export
bookmarks to HTML"
and follow the instructions in the previous email.
Note, the library dialog is volatile and times out if you don't use it after
a brief time and the menu bar is not available. If this happens, just press
control+shift+b again and the full dialog will be available once more.

Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks
This article explains how to export your bookmarks to an HTML file, which
can be used as a backup or for importing into another web browser.

Internet Explorer, Export bookmarks to Opera and Export bookmarks to Safari.

Click the Library button on your toolbar. (If you don't see it there, click
the menu bar then click Library.) Click Bookmarks and then click the Show
All Bookmarks bar at the bottom.
2. From the toolbar on the Library window, click Import and Backup and
choose Export Bookmarks to HTML....
3. In the Export Bookmarks File window that opens, choose a location to save
the file, which is named bookmarks.html by default. The desktop is usually a
good spot, but any place that is easy to remember will work.
4. Click the Save button. The Export Bookmarks File window will close.
5. Close the Library window.
Your bookmarks are now successfully exported from Firefox. The bookmarks
HTML file you saved is now ready to be imported into another web browser.
