I thought this note from Harriet Bennett-Lenane would give better insights
into her intentions for this research and why we should put a big effort into
supporting her team.

Yesterday I was at a pharmacy conference and it is my plan for the research
to be presented as a similar conference like that one next year. There were
about 500 pharmacists at it so that would help to raise awareness.
Basically I have a long term plan with this research area. I agree with you
that most often certain areas of research can only focus on the negatives and
don't actually help the change. With regard to pharmacy experiences there is
no published Irish research currently looking at pharmacy care of patients
with visual impairments. Therefore in order for me to apply for research
funding in this area I need to first show that there is a need for
improvement/training in certain areas. Then once we can show this we hope to
work with different groups to build a new training tool and guide for
pharmacy staff and look at the potential for technology and apps to improve
care. I hope that makes sense. So hopefully this research will be the first
step for that. Thanks very much again I appreciate it!
