Hi all,
I have an Echo Dot which was purchased in 2016. Due to the year of purchase, I
consider it to be a second-generation Echo device. I have not known about any
software updates for my Echo during the past couple of years. However, last
night I issued the command "check for software updates" and was informed an
update was available. I provided verbal consent for installation.
I do not know what the new software update fixes. However, I have noticed my
Echo Dot is now much faster when responding to my commands. I suggest giving
the "check for software updates" voice command to see if a new update is
available for your Echo. I do not know if this update is only available for
years-old echo Dots like mine, or if the update is limited to specific
countries. As with computers, I think it is important to install a software
update for Alexa when aware of its existence.
