NVDA Screen reader training
Date: 18th January 2023

This NVDA training course consists of 4 fortnightly lessons covering the
following areas:
. Introduction to NVDA
. Word-processing with NVDA
. Using Gmail app with NVDA
. Using the internet with NVDA
Starting: Wednesday 18th January 10.30am - 12.00pm and running for 4
fortnightly lessons.
JAWS Screen reader training
Date: 18th January 2023
Time: 2:00pm - 3.30pm
This JAWS training course consists of 6 weekly lessons covering the
following areas:
. Introduction to JAWS
. Word-processing with JAWS
. Using Gmail app with JAWS
. Using the internet with JAWS
Starting: Wednesday 18th 2.00pm - 3.30pm and running weekly for 6 weekly
lessons.
Level 3 Smart Speaker Course (Alexa)
Date: 30th January 2023
Time: 2:30pm - 3.45pm
In this Level 3 Smart Speaker course, we explore further features available
on the Amazon Echo smart speaker and how they can be used to help people who
are blind or partially sighted. We cover how to change the Alexa voice and
speech rate, make Alexa-to-Alexa calls and text messaging, use the "Drop-In"
feature, demonstrate how smart home devices, such as lights, thermostats,
video doorbells and plugs, may be used with Alexa, as well as the purpose
and benefit of Alexa Routines. We also highlight some of the features of the
myNCBI Alexa skill.
Google Nest Mini Smart Speaker Level 1
Date: 27th February 2023
Time: 2:30pm - 3.45pm
In this Level 1 Smart Speaker course, we explore some of the features
available on the Google Nest Mini smart speaker and how they can be used to
help people who are blind or partially sighted. We will go through the
requirements of this Google smart speaker, identify the physical buttons,
use basic spoken commands, initiate information searches and create timers,
alarms and reminders.
