Open Office from Apache is quit= e sophisticated and can do table of
contentsand mail merging for starters.= I don=E2=80=99t use it with NVDA at
the moment but overall the latest vers= ion works fine with the inverted
colours and high contrast. A previous vers= ion did not behave well in dark
mode and white texts so I was using LibreOf= fice instead. A caveat using
Open Office is that the default format of the = text document is .odt short
for open document rather than docx. MS and Apac= he files are compatible
witheach other in my experience but is something t= o watch if sending your
files to others. Otherwise a brilliant alternative = to MS office for own
use.

I think it will do the basics ok. For m= ore advanced work I would recommend
office but just for taking notes or rea= ding a few docs it should work ok.
