Yes Dave heard Thomas Donville of Applevis speak highly of the Voice
Dream Scanner in his podcast re GPt.
Yes I remember Kurzweil quite well but wondered did I miss anything
really good.
It would be great to hear from others here too if they would be so kind
as to take the time to let us all know their own thoughts.
The only thing I wonder aouut apps such as Voice Dream Scanner is how to
place it so as to get best results?
Thanks a lot for getting back,
Tony

Hi Tony,===========================================================
Honestly, it’s not something I ever have the need to do personally. I get by
with the digital or audiobook versions.
If I am scanning text using my phone, I recommend an app called Voice Dream
Scanner. I’m sure there are other good ones available too.
It allows for batch scanning, so you can do multiple pages.
Be My Eyes virtual volunteer only takes one or two photos at a time, plus
it’s more about interpreting images and allowing you to ask questions, rather
than just reading them.
Another option is using a flat bed scanner with software on your PC. Back in
college I did this with software called Kurzweil 1000, but that was a long
time ago.

Dave, on he subject of book reading what would be your preferred way of
doing this using assistive tech?
Thanks,

I wouldn’t recommend it for books. Regular OCR apps will likely do a better===========================================================

I’m on the beta and plan to upload some demos to YouTube. Any requests for
things to try, please let me know.

Fascinating Stuart if not a bit repetitive but I found the item just
great indeed.
Was wondering if it would read a book for us?
Thanks,
Tony
