The email in question has two attachments. On my laptop they appear as two
pdf files. However, I can only read one of the attachments (which is a
schedule of events(. The second attachment does not read - it is a map to a
location so I am not sure if there is any text to be read.
This same email however when it came into my iphone the attachnents show up
as winmail and this I cannot open. I will try Cearbhall solution and
download the winmail app. Hopefully, that will work. Any further
suggestions would be welcome.

Mary raised a question today about winmail.dat files which she was
receiving from someone as an attachment to an email. I thought this
related to problems with Microsoftâ?Ts built-in mail service under Windows
10 but that is not the case.
Winmail.dat files are sent by people using Microsoft Outlook as their
email application. Under certain circumstances Outlook will encode
attached files, like Word or PDF files, in this winmail.dat format.
Since we are all likely to meet this problem in the future, I thought I
would post the article below to explain the whole situation and to offer a
solution. The first app mentioned here is free but may include ads. The
second one costs 99c in the app store. I found other apps costing up to
â,¬39 also on the app store so I recommend trying this one if the first
one below does not solve the issue!
Option 1:
