Further to the Corkâs exchange club meeting, and in relation to Marthaâs
viewing of the film Artesmis Fowl film, she joined Dismey plus and started to
view the film, but in order to get audio description, she needed to use a one
finger tap twice on her iPad monitor to engage the audio description, and all
buttons were labelled from here on in:
There was a discussion on using Gold Wave and Audacity to edit sound
recordings.
Eamon has used up his free Goldwave editing, and must pay for the app, if he
wants to continue using Goldwave.
A talk about security started with Declan explaining all about HTTP and HTTPS,
the s denotes secure on the website and it has a padlock to denote secure site.
Then Declan took us on a Elan Musk space x journey, telling us about VPN,
VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK,
And promised us a talk about Cyber security over the next few weeks.
Joan Kearns wanted to know whether Alexa or Google home player were better,
Bert said that the Google home player was great for directions, getting phone
number , and powering on lights and heat and so on, but at the end he agreed
with Paul, that Alexa had mor to offer,
In the way of many different types of skills.
Paul asked if buying wifi plugs etc, would they work with amazon and Google
products, some do, and some work only with Amazon or Google.
Mary has the app downloaded called Dark Sky, but its good from a visual point
of view, but does not forecast for the following days, so has limited use.
Cearbhall is disappointed with Borrowbox, from the point of trying to get a
good book to read,
We now know that Cearbhall, does not like Romance or anything sloppy ,
But options given when searching are not good,
Mary cannot find the title of the book, she is reading the blurb about,
And the box suggesting search by category/genre , surely they are the same
thing?
There was a long discussion on the merits of the various mobile packages, and
Paul thought that Virgin Media of 25⬠per month for any landline calls in
Ireland and any calls/texts to any mobile operator was about as good as it
gets.
Regards Paul
