Good evening everyone!

We were at one of my favorite places for last night's meeting, The Cheeky Monk.
We had a solid group of 11 there; a lot of people even doubled up on roles and
helped make the meeting a blast! Toastmaster Pat Haugse took us on a journey
down the railroad tracks with his theme of "Trains," and several members had
the opportunity to share some memorable experiences they've had with/on trains.
Way to go, Pat, on putting together a really fun night!

From the business agenda:

Dues are coming up in September! Dues will be $48.
Club Contest is fast approaching--September 22nd. Lori is looking for a Chief
Judge. 2 winners from our club will go on to compete October 8th in
Broomfield.

The difficult "logistics" (Word of the Day courtesty of Lori) of originally
having only one speaker were quickly resolved when Adam and Luke volunteered to
give a 4-6 minute impromptu speech. It was a great opportunity to step up and
I'd recommend this challenge to anyone! You'll feel great afterwards for
putting your skills to the test.

The first speaker of the night was Kate. Her speech was Speech #3 out of the
CC Manual, "Get to the Point." Kate spoke about the slippery slope of being
opinionated, but not judgemental. Adam's impromptu speech was next up, and he
talked about the the impact that airplanes and aviation have had on his life
ever since he was a little kid. Luke was the final speaker and he told us how
intertwined his life has been with trains.

Congratulations to Adam for winning Best Speaker!

Luke led Table Topics, and the questions were all about trains. Dirk's very
funny answer earned him the Best Table Topics ribbon. His question was: "What
security measures would you put on your train to ward off train robbers like
Jesse James and his gang?" Dirk's answer: Duct Tape!!

Our General Evaluator last night was Pat Sanchez, who was assisted by
Evaluators Dirk, Bob Cassiday, and Feliks. Another round of applause for the
Best Evaluator...DIRK! Dirk left the meeting several pounds heavier thanks to
all those trophies and ribbons!

Thanks again to Pat Haugse and the additional team members of Shannon (Ah
Counter), Feliks (Inspirator), Lori (Quiz Master), and Dirk (Greeter) for
putting on another quality FRTM meeting!

That's a wrap. Have a great weekend everyone!! Can't wait to see you next
week.

Luke
