Good evening Front Range Toastmasters!

Officer elections are right around the corner!! Candidate speeches are set
for Thursday, December 09, 2010. If you would like to run for an officer
position, please email me the following:

1) Your Name

2) Position you would like to run for

3) Toastmaster who will be giving your candidacy speech

The Candidacy Speeches are fun and they are by no means hard core politician
speeches (e.g., slander, passive aggressiveness, and so on). They are 2-3
minute speeches giving a "sales pitch" on why the club should vote on
somebody for an officer position. After the speeches are given, then whoever
gave the "sales pitch" for the prospective officer is then evaluated by the
prospective officer. The evaluations are 2-3 minutes in length as well. Here
is an example.

Dirk asks Robert to give a speech on his behalf for VP of Membership. Robert
puts together an outline and gives an award winning pitch on why Dirk should
be our VP of Membership. Robert's speech starts off like this, "Dirk puts
the Toastmaster in Front Range Toastmasters! Without him as our VP of
Membership, we are just a club and not a toastmasters club". Then Robert
finishes his speech strong. Dirk then evaluates Robert's outstanding speech
and reinforces the message of the speech.

Short, sweet, fun, and to the point. That is what these speeches and
evaluations are all about. I strongly encourage you to consider an officer
position for this next term. The term is only six months (January through
June) and there is specific training provided along with a well documented
set of instructions/duties for each position. I promise, you will grow
personally and professionally by participating in the club as an officer.
Please let myself or Lori High know if you are interested in a position next
term. I have listed the officer roles below for you to review. Have a great
rest of the week and see you all Thursday night!

The eight officer roles for our club are:

President - Currently filled by Lori High- Responsibilities include creating
a successful Club Plan, leading the officers to meet their responsibilities,
interface to the District, and preside over club meetings.

(Lori High will be running for her second term)

Educational Vice President - Currently filled by Robert Baker-
Responsibilities include creating and distributing schedules three weeks in
advance (using Club Scheduler which is easily transferrable), planning
creative meetings, overseeing the educational progress of club members,
interfacing with the district (team with president), helping the club attain
the President's Distinguished Club award.

(Robert Baker will be running for his second term)

Vice President of Membership - Currently filled by Dirk Kittredge-
Responsibilities include supporting the club members, working with them when
there are absences, keeping the Guest Packets and New-Member packets
stocked, communicating with inquiries of guests with the club. Bottom line:
member retention and guest to member conversion.

(No confirmation/candidates at this time)

Vice President of Public Relations - Currently filled by Michael Bray-
Responsibilities include working to put together promotional pieces and
figure out new ways to get the word out about our club in order to help
drive new guests to our club.

(No Confirmation/candidates at this time)

Secretary - Currently filled by Crystal Baker- Keep minutes of the officer
meetings called by the president and minutes of the regular meetings. File
officer reports with TI.

(Would like to pass the torch on for this role)

Treasurer - Currently filled by Robert Baker- Keep the bank account
balanced, manage dues collection process, filing the club report with the
IRS.

(Would like to pass the torch on for this role)

Sergeant at Arms - Currently vacant- Responsibility includes setup/take down
of the meeting equipment each week, maintenance and ordering of materials as
necessary (in conjunction with the Treasurer who holds the check book.)

(No candidates at this time)

Mentor Master - Currently vacant- Coordinates the mentorship program. This
is an unofficial role, but if done well, will help contribute to the club's
success dramatically.

(Tommy Maloney will be taking this role on for the first time)

Respectfully,

Robert Baker
