Greetings Fellow Toastmasters,
There were 12 members in attendance and no guests.
Bill Farrand was our toastmaster for the evening and the theme was 1969 which
coincides with the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11.
Highlights from the evening
1. There were three speakers.
Alan Wong: What if I sketched with a little more effort.
<20190628_063040.jpg>
The 2nd speaker was Katelynn Pau on mentoring, protege's and men tees.
The 3rd speaker was Dirk Kittridge; nunchucks, knee caps, and bad guys do not
always win.
2. Great word of the day by Monica Warstler with DISINTER.
3. Robin McIntosh was Table Topics Master. Great questions and he gave
commentary's on each member after they answered his question. His response was
immediate and I would think not as easy as he made it out to be. Some of the
questions that related to the theme of 1969. 12 Jan 1969 Superbowl III. 14
July 1969 large denomination bills withdrawn. 17 December 1969 project blue
book.
4. Kathleen Jewby was first time General Evaluator and she was a pro. She
mentioned the elephant in the room which was easy speak. She gave great
feedback on Robin for table topics and for his active listening skills. My vote
to Kathleen for dressing the theme with the most colorful pants I've ever seen
and did anyone notice her big and shiny peace sign she wore around her neck?
So awesome. And she ended her role with it was a groovy meeting. Peace. And
honorary mention to Dirk Kittredge for wearing blue suede shoes.
5. Picnic at the Park meeting on 15 August.
Ribbon Winners:
Best Evaluator: Lori High on Dirk Kittredge. Great story telling, great
character development in a very short time.
Best Table Topics: Kathleen Jewby: I'm a slob.
Best Speaker: Alan Wong: I now get to talk about Robin. I hate the
attention. What if I move with purpose.
Final Thoughts for the evening:
Issac Ramirez first time evaluator on Katelynn. He's growing right before our
eyes. Luis Estrada with his great joke. Liver her alone, Cheese mine.
Robin talked about toastmasters many times before I decided to look into
toastmasters for myself. I remember telling him I think I found a club that
fits into my time schedule and Robin says to me "do you want me to come with
you?" even though he was already a member at another club. What a great
friend. My first impression was they must dress up every week. (it was
Halloween). And my second impression was that everyone was so talented. If
only I could be just like them. Robin and I joined the club the following
week. And because everyone was not in costume, I did not recognize anyone the
following week. Robin and I should have worn a costume the next week, that
would have been funny. Almost 3 years later, the talent in our club is still
amazing to me. Thank you to every member for helping me grow just a little. I
end with a quote by Jack Welch. Before you are a leader, success is all about
growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing
others.
Until next week. I am your humble secretary
