House cleaning; Feng Shui of the house. Stuff and environment has impact
on emotions and behavior. Changes in environment changes behavior.

Golf outing with Bob. Bob is kind of a jerk. He complains that the beer
is not right. Sun is in his eyes. Funeral procession comes by. As Bob
gets ready to putt he steps back and takes off his hat. Golfing buddies
are impressed. Bob says "after all we've been married for 25 years".

When it hurts, it hurts. Motorcycle accident. Thrown off to the side of
the mountain and was in a fetal position. Moved arms and legs. Rider #4
yells at me to stop moving. Why are you moving? In case I die and they
draw a chalk outline of me, I don't them to draw a circle. I want to look
like a human being.

Presenting an award, the shining star award. There are many toastmasters
and not many people give of their time. Marietta Farrington has been with
toastmasters for only one year. Debra (mentor) saw passion in Marrietta.
Ran the district event. 4 months planning. Team of 60 volunteers. High
performance leadership project. Award for leadership excellence.

Motivating people. Team leaders. Being a leader versus being a boss.
Leaders have vision. Get people to a "want to" state versus a "have to"
state. Basic principles of motivation, people prefer reward over
punishment. People like to do meaningful work. People must believe in
you.

in your freezer. Asked by Trader Joe's. A. Sell the refrigerator. Work
with crazy people, live with crazy people. Part of our society. Accept
them.
2. Ray Pezolt. Q. What kind of zoo animal is most like you? Asked by
Forbes. A. Zoo animals are not a wild life animal. They are captured and
in a cage. I am a specialist at watching people, not people watching me.
3. Shirley Eaves. Q. What three things do you check about the
business when you wake up? Asked by Drop Box. A. 1. See that the
building shows up on google earth. 2. Notification trade issues. 3. See
if anyone is googling me.
4. Bill Farrand. Q. When a hot dog expands, what direction does it
split? and why? Asked by Space Ex. A. I have a lot of experience eating
and cooking hot dogs. All hot dogs are good hot dogs. Water helps to
expand hot dogs.
5. Robin McIntosh. Q. Would you rather fight 100 size duck horses or
one duck size horse? Asked by Whole foods. A. I would fight 100 ducks.
Kick them mambee pamzee ducks and get that job.

by Delta Airlines. A. I would measure one basketball in cm and measure
them by each other. Then measure how many square meters in the room.

you start? Asked by Hub Spot. A. Quit job as teacher. Sell vintage
clothing on line. Road trip to pick different clothing.
8. Jennifer Dunne. Q. What name of Debut Album be? Asked by Urban
Outfitters. A. Sparkle with glitter. Confetti.
General Evaluator: Richa Acharya
Evaluator #1. Colette Smith on Alan Wong
Simplicity, vividness, and a twist. Painting picture with words. Captured
the audience. Challenge to explore volume and pitch. Paint pictures with
words.
Evaluator #2. Jonathan Kolber on Lori High
Lori raises the bar attempting to find things to improve. Professional
presenter. Excellent gestures. At the proper time engaged Marietta to the
stage. Hand clasping rigidly to the side. Toastmaster works on the basis
of service. Emphasized point of service. Good vocal variety. Specific
praise to Marietta. (Congratulations Marietta).
Evaluator #3. Jeff Stoll on Dirk Kittredge
Love the slides. Principles were wordy. Long points. Good call to
action. Excellent summary - try something different to motivate your
people.
Reports
Ah-Counter: Jennifer Dunne. Colette and Alan no ums or anything. (yay).
Dirk had one. New filler word of choice - "probably".
Gesture Master: Colette Smith. Guess this gesture. Colette demonstrates
the gesture and we had to guess who did it. Colette replayed gestures from
Dirk, Alan, Bill, and Jennifer. (and everyone guessed correctly. I guess
it is true, we remember gestures more than we remember words spoken).
Grammarian: Bill Farrand. Phillip on Bad companies are not going to
market themselves. Kathy on impromptu part of meeting. Let's have table
topics as if no body planned for it.

GE: Richa Acharya. Guests were introduced first then team. Greeter
interviewed guests. Great theme tonight by Phil. Table Topics stuck with
the theme "Interviewing tips".

Best Evaluator: Colette Smith (I would say this was one of Colette's best
evalutions, good job Colette).
Best Speaker: Tie Lori High and Alan Wong
We had 15 members tonight and 3 guests. I loved the theme by Phillip
because it pertains to all of us. Excellent job to everyone that
participated. Originally I was to evaluate Dirk on his speech but there
was a change in the schedule. Behind the scenes that you may not be aware
of on Dirk. Dirk showed up the day before to prepare his slide show. He
spent a lot of time changing the size of the print on his slide show and
centering every slide. He spent a lot of time deciding on color and font.
It appears before his speech we were all staring at a blank screen but in
actuality there was a small green dot on the bottom right of the screen.
This allows for no time wasted to turn on the computer when it was time for
him to give his speech and wait for it to boot back up. Preparation to the
extreme? I think not. We can say that's just Dirk being Dirk. I say
that's Dirk being a leader among leaders. He's being a role model and he's
setting an example for us. I can name off a lot of members where if they
were not a part of our club, the club would not be the same and I would
miss them tremendously. Dirk is on top of that list.
I use to see Friday nights as the start of my weekend. I now see
Thursday nights as the start of my weekend all thanks to toastmasters and
everyone in it. It was another glorious meeting and another night where
you should've been there. Until next week, I am your humble secretary.
