My guess is you don't install a bootloader on the disk, Only on the
partition.
Try installing bootman on it. Boot from USB to Desktop and install
'bootman' by running it in a terminal.
It's a one time operation, and most have already some bootmanager
installed on disk so it is probably not that well known. Setting up disks
under Haiku could use some love, but as it is outside of the Haiku
partition it's also dangerous without knowing what other OS'es have done.
