From the log, it seems to fail even earlier, as all attempts to get the
EDID info failed.
Your laptop appears to use DisplayPort internally to connect the display,
and the modesetting attempt ends in a "TODO DisplayPort" entry. I guess
someone didn't finish implementing this.
