Laptop displays attached internally via DP is getting a lot more common.
Radeon HD has better DP code done, but it doesn't work either. DP
training is pretty tricky since DP devices can be daisy chained. Radeon
HD is a bit easier to work with as I keep an inventory of ports +
connected displays. Post-rewrite it should be possible to manage Intel DP
devices like this as ports are better abstracted... but lack of time on my
part means it'll likely be a while unless someone wants to take the lead
on it.
