When I don't use the video firmware, I also get a black screen on the
T400.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get any usable serial output from
the docking station (tried with T60 and T400 on the docking station,
different cables and different USB->Serial adapters and a real RS-232
port; tests were run Linux to Linux) although I can send reliably to the
docking station. Until I find a way to fix this or find another way to get
the syslog (network?) when graphical output is failing, I can't provide
more details. :-(
