 Please report your mainboard. I had a similar problem on a Gigabyte GA-
 EX58-UDR3 rev1.6. It worked in AHCI mode. After upgrading the BIOS to
 support the memory I used, it stopped again - now there was a new option
 "XHD/RAID" which does allow booting Haiku (but not into the existing
 Windows installation).
 Also make sure, your drives hang on the SATA ports serviced by the Intel
 chipset, many mainboards especially for Quad/1366 CPUs have an additional
 SATA controller.
 Maybe your CD drive is connected to that one?
