 Yes, after renaming intel_extreme and intel_extreme.accelerant the MacBook
 Pro 5,4 boots fine.

 I get the native resolution of 1440x900 automatically.

 After rebooting, the system is again locked. I can sucessfully boot if I
 first shutdown the MacBook Pro 5,4 and then remove and insert the SD card
 with my Haiku installation (r42835).
