#9110: Strange network problem ----------------------------------------+---------------------------- Reporter: dsjonny | Owner: nobody Type: bug | Status: new Priority: high | Milestone: R1/alpha4 Component: Drivers/Network/ipro1000 | Version: R1/Development Resolution: | Keywords: Blocked By: | Blocking: Has a Patch: 0 | Platform: All ----------------------------------------+---------------------------- Comment (by dsjonny): I have tried the hrevr1alpha4-44687 image. The ping is much more faster when I use IP, but when I use host, it is slower. The name resolving is worse. If I want to use the WebPositive, than I need to wait more time to start to load the page. And I set up the POP3, and many times it is cannot resolve the mail server's address. And finalyy I could not download the latest image under Haiku (with Web+ and with wget), because cannot find the host. :( {{{ Welcome to the Haiku shell. ~/Desktop> ifconfig -a loop Hardware type: Local Loopback, Address: none inet addr: 127.0.0.1, Mask: 255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1, Prefix Length: 128 MTU: 16384, Metric: 0, up loopback link Receive: 0 packets, 0 errors, 0 bytes, 0 mcasts, 0 dropped Transmit: 0 packets, 0 errors, 0 bytes, 0 mcasts, 0 dropped Collisions: 0 /dev/net/ipro1000/0 Hardware type: Ethernet, Address: 38:60:77:59:a7:6a Media type: 1 GBit, 1000BASE-T inet addr: 89.133.224.21, Bcast: 255.255.255.255, Mask: 255.255.248.0 inet6 addr: fe80::3a60:77ff:fe59:a76a, Bcast: ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff::, Prefix Length: 64 MTU: 1500, Metric: 0, up broadcast link auto-configured Receive: 1747 packets, 0 errors, 421659 bytes, 0 mcasts, 0 dropped Transmit: 382 packets, 0 errors, 33540 bytes, 0 mcasts, 0 dropped Collisions: 0 ~/Desktop> ping 192.168.100.1 PING 192.168.100.1 (192.168.100.1): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.485 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.482 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.439 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.458 ms --- 192.168.100.1 ping statistics --- 4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max/std-dev = 0.439/0.466/0.485/0.089 ms ~/Desktop> ping 89.133.224.21 PING 89.133.224.21 (89.133.224.21): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 89.133.224.21: icmp_seq=0 ttl=254 time=0.055 ms 64 bytes from 89.133.224.21: icmp_seq=1 ttl=254 time=0.055 ms 64 bytes from 89.133.224.21: icmp_seq=2 ttl=254 time=0.057 ms 64 bytes from 89.133.224.21: icmp_seq=3 ttl=254 time=0.061 ms --- 89.133.224.21 ping statistics --- 4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max/std-dev = 0.055/0.057/0.061/0.002 ms ~/Desktop> ping haiku-os.org PING haiku-os.org (188.40.89.175): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 188.40.89.175: icmp_seq=0 ttl=52 time=47.340 ms 64 bytes from 188.40.89.175: icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=47.251 ms 64 bytes from 188.40.89.175: icmp_seq=2 ttl=52 time=48.839 ms 64 bytes from 188.40.89.175: icmp_seq=3 ttl=52 time=47.067 ms --- haiku-os.org ping statistics --- 4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max/std-dev = 47.067/47.624/48.839/131.345 ms ~/Desktop> ping haiku-files.org error: unknown host: haiku-files.org ~/Desktop> }}} I have no idea what is can be the poblem.
