He probably needs to speak to me about this Nick because The Carlisle are also
happy to accommodate. I have been in there (the MF) and he never mentioned it
to me.... probably because he thinks you deal with the events.
The problem with both venues is that the potential to raise cash is less than
previous years ..... for instance, we can’t run a barbecue at The Carlisle and
Glenn has a restaurant he is creating so is unlikely to want a barbecue. That
added £150 to the total.
The Carlisle will be restricted in that we can’t get donations as people to
come in the door and will have to do a bucket collection, although they have
offered £200 because they wouldn’t have to pay for a band.
My own view is that we would have to see what the new Marina Fountain looks
like with its restaurant and even after then would have to make a call on if it
would be better to do a few smaller events somewhere to raise cash rather than
on big Fest.
We are a long way from coming to a decision right now, but we will have to
weigh up the benefits against the huge effort that goes into organising these
things. In the end we will have some options to consider and I believe that
will have to come by the start of the new year.
