Historically we have always pushed out the AAC+ stream to the streaming
service providers, it's a lower bitrate stream and hence is better for
mobile platforms - which is again primarily what these services were
aimed at. Despite the fact we now have an MP3 stream in play as well,
the fact we've never had a problem reported back with that approach (and
indeed things like Alexa etc. all work just fine), we've continued with
that approach.
MP3 is however much more universally accepted and it may well be that
the Roberts/Reiva clients won't work with AAC+ hence why the promo
stream worked (because that was always MP3) and why it now doesn't since
it's been redirected to the AAC+ one. It's potentially something we can
address but given how long it takes the streaming providers to update
their links, probably too late for this broadcast.
On a related note, I recall there was a request for the "direct"
streaming links for people who didn't want to use the embedded player
(possibly via Sarah?), I mentioned I thought they were on the website
but that doesn't appear to be the case so for info - and these can be
published, they aren't a secret:

Of the platforms we list on the 'help page', it is streama that is not
working correctly. Tune in and vtuner seem ok. My Roberts internet
radio which uses Reiva links but there is no sound.

should be working. Also Reciva internet radios (early Roberts etc)
should work.

To be honest I can't keep track... upshot is if they can tune in and
get the promo stream then they should get the broadcast when it starts
(I seem to recall the switchover wasn't instantaneous for some of the
services but that's out of our control). If they can't... well
likelihood is they won't. As we now maintain a permanent stream
presence all year we no longer contact any of the stream providers and
tell them to do anything different come the broadcast.
If memory serves once we get going the direct streaming links are on
the website.
