Our website has always suffered from this strange needing to
clear/refresh the cache thing & I've never entirely been sure why.
15-20 years ago the need to manually refresh your browser to make it
take notice of any changes was probably a thing, nowadays it's frankly
ridiculous.
I would hazard a guess it's something not quite setup
properly with our hosting provider (Claranet) however I never noticed a
problem all the years I had my site with them.
Given they put their prices up massively last year (although Nick
managed to knock it down for this year), we aught to be thinking about
how/where we want to host the site next time the renewal is due -
sooner rather than later. We opted to stick with Claranet this time
around because it would have been a massive rush job to transfer
everything across in time so ideally we don't want to be in that
position again. Nick, maybe if you let us know when the renewal is due,
we can plan around that.
We touched slightly on the complexities of this at one of our last face
to face meetings earlier this year because the other aspect to it is
the email side (ie. all email addresses ending in
'.hastingsrock.co.uk').
At the moment, Claranet own & host the website. Benjamin pretty much
looks after the web content (with a few exceptions, like the stream
place holder) and I manage the email redirections.
I think there's two options:
1. Let Benjamin take over the hosting side. In that configuration he
would pretty much be the point of contact then for
everything .hastingsrock.co.uk, including email setups. That obviously
increases his workload and we'd need to go around what that would
entail.
2. Use another hosting provider (effectively replacing Claranet). I'm
happy to sort that out, it would then operate in a similar vein as it
does now (unless someone else wants to look after it).
Whichever way we go should then finally put to bed this poxy cache
refresh thing that has plagued us.

Nick,
If you do a 'refresh page' in your browser (usually the circle with an
arrow on it) and hold down 'shift' at the same time, that should clear
the cache for that page.
It may be you can set your browser to not cache any pages which would
prevent to problem happening in the first place but how you do that
(assuming you can) depends on the browser. You would need to check in
the help for the browser you use.
Another thing that might help would to clear cookies when you shut
down the browser which will help it forget things. All browsers offer
the ability to 'clear cookies on close' and it is usually set in the
'security and privacy settings' area of the browser. Note that this
will clear everything such as stored passwords etc so you would need
to enter these each time you revisit a website after the browser is
re-opened. Not a bad thing though in my view.

I think its Time to announce on Website and Facebook that we have
been awarded the licence for FM in May and that will be our next
broadcast .( May 1st-28th )
Theres no need to say no Xmas Broadcast as that is negative .
I can update the placeholder, as the one i done before was
rushed and is awfully bad .
