I have posted this below on the DJ Channel but will post it here too, because I
am determined this whole thing does not become a blame game since it has
threatened to deteriorate into just that.

Can I just make it clear that this is not a blame game and the recent failures
are systemic and should not be put at any one person's door. It has also
indicated a review is needed of the process that informs and gains approval for
visitors to the studio since it has been shown to fail. It is clearly not
sufficiently robust.
It is probably too late in the broadcast to change the process now and it will
have to wait until post-broadcast review, so we all just have to be more
vigilant and tight in our application of the current process to inform Steve of
visitors.
I have spoken to Steve our host at some length about this and he is absolutely
fine and trusts us all to take steps to avoid it happening again. Let’s not get
carried away with this, since there is a danger of of this being blown out of
proportion....it is not a serious problem at this time and it has not at this
time put next year's broadcast from the premises in jeopardy.... Steve predicts
that we will be invited back again next year. He has loved us being there.
For the final week, We just need to make sure we demonstrate to Steve that we
appreciate this wonderful studio location and that we will always treat his
superb hospitality with the respect it truly deserves.

When I spoke to Steve, he was talking in general terms although Phil was just
unlucky that his was the straw that broke the camel’s back. However, it is a
general lesson to be learnt by everyone and if everyone takes heed, we will
have no further problems.
I have spoken to Phil again today and he brought a bunch of flowers up for
Steve’s wife by way of apology. I also saw Steve’s wife and she is fine.
If you have a specific need regarding Tom Nick, if you explain to Steve exactly
the problem you have, he is a reasonable person and I am sure he will have no
problem. I would imagine that Tom just needs to stay in the studio with you.
Let’s not get carried away with this, it is not a serious problem at this time
but we just have to be more vigilant and tight in our application of the rule
to inform Steve of visitors, otherwise it will become a serious problem.

Totally agree Tony. I have A few of The Happy Maureens coming in on Saturday
afternoon although one of these is Alli who Steve knows helps me, but I
always intended to inform him directly about this in advance.
My other big concern is that Phil The Bus and a few others have taken to
taking lots of photos of himself and guests around Steve's garden and
posting them on facebook. Whilst Steve's garden is very unusual and amazing,
I don't think its right that we should be displaying his garden (which he
may want to keep discreet) for the world to see because it is a cool
backdrop for a DJ.
I think everyone who this applies to is on facebook DJ Channel Tony.

Morning all,
O.K. So we potentially have a problem with our Host, Steve.
He has made it known to us that there are too many people arriving at
the Studio that he has not been made aware of, while he doesnt have a
huge problem with this, his Wife, who apparently isnt a huge fan of
Rock, and also works very long shifts, is getting anxious about random
people milling around the Garden in and out of the studio.
I dont want to go into long details about the ins and outs of this, but,
we MUST take steps to stop this now, before it becomes a big issue and
we arent invited back next year.
I will also be sending a message to the Facebook DJ group (Is everyone
on that platform Sarah? apart from Simon...) about this, but we will
need to enforce a strict blanket ban on ANY and ALL guests, UNLESS there
is a justification for them being there..
Currently, I can only think of Specific helpers for Request shows, St
Michaels Hospice guests, the Odd band leader on a Sunday night...
but this shouldnt extend to friends, family or anyone a DJ thinks might
be "good fun" to be in the studio with.
The Garden must also be off limits to everyone that does go to the
Studio, they are either In the studio, or leaving the Studio. Its only
a matter of time before photos and other facebook posts that we have
seen gives our location away, and then we are in bigger trouble....
Anyone that would like a Guest in the Studio NEEDS to contact either
myself or Nick in advance, who will, in turn confirm this with Steve,
our Host, and he may well say No, and we HAVE to respect this.
This may also be an issue on the final night as well, there are usually
lots of people in the Studio at various times, but I think this should
ONLY be the outgoing, and incoming DJ for the 1 hour slots (or whatever
gets decided...) We really cant be using the Studio as a party venue,
thats in the Angling Club...
Sorry if this sounds a bit drastic, but it IS Steve's house, we ARE his
guests, and this IS the Golden goose of a location, so lets not muck it
up in the first year...
