Hello Everyone,
For item #6 on the agenda below, I would like to make the following proposal
for BIRD189:
In the Terminal_type section: Add a new Terminal_type, called Ref_node
In the Terminal_type_qualifier section: Add a new Terminal_type_qualifier,
called node_name
In the Qualifier_entry section: Add a rule that when the
Terminal_type_qualifier is node_name,
than the <pin_name_entry> shall be A_gnd
In the Aggressor_Only section: Add a rule that for Terminal_type Ref_node,
Aggressor is not allowed
on the terminal line
Before the Connecting Pins, Pads and Buffer Terminals section: State the
following rule with a
warning message:
Terminal_type Ref_node is not required for File_TS or File_IBIS-ISS, but if
present, File_TS may only
have it only on the N+1th terminal line (once), while File_IBIS-ISS may have it
on any of its terminal
lines any number of times.
Important: It is highly recommended to not use A_gnd for referencing purposes
on terminal lines
and to not use ideal ground (node0) connections inside IBIS-ISS subcircuits.
We can add an example for this if necessary in the appropriate place:
3 Ref_node node_name A_gnd
Thanks,
Arpad

Agenda
======
1) Opens
Holiday schedule:
December 5 on
December 12 on
December 19 on
December 26 cancel
January 2 cancel
January 9 on
2) Roll call
3) Review of ARs:
Any other AR-s?
4) Call for any IBIS related patent disclosures
5) Approval of minutes
6) File_TS reference terminal connection to node0? (Radek)
- discussion
7) Buffer impedance / C_comp improvements (Randy)
- discussion
8) Single ended applications of algorithmic modeling (All)
- do we need to make any changes in the spec?
- we need Fangyi's presence to discuss his concerns
- discussion
a) single ended filter needs different algorithms
- EQ effecting Vref
b) rise/fall may be asymmetric
- gets worse at higher data rate
c) loss of information when using difference signals only
d) power aware simulation (SSO effects)
Tabled topics:
==============
9) New BIRDs from Editorial Task Group? (Bob/Radek)
a. Specify buffer reference terminals for pins ([Pin Reference])
b. Simulation (aka DIA) vs. DUT (depends on #a)
c. C_comp and package reference in simulation clarifications
(depends on #a)
d. Make changes to the [Receiver Threshold], once a. and b. are resolved
10) 166.4 Resolving problems with Redriver Init Flow (Walter)
11) BIRD190 (Ambrish)
12) Fangyi's Redriver flow BIRD draft (Fangyi)
- add equations
- consider rewriting the AMI "front end" in the spec (flows)
(when this proposal is added to the spec)
13) How to handle missing min/max data? (Arpad)
- what should be the governing rule for synchronizing
typ/min/max data?
Pending BIRDs, expected to be rejected:
=======================================
125.1 Make IBIS-ISS Available for IBIS Package Modeling
145.3 Cascading IBIS I/O buffers with [External Circuit]s using the [Model
Call] keyword
163 Instantiating and Connecting [External Circuit] Package Models with
[Circuit Call]
164 Allowing Package Models to be defined in [External Circuit]
Pending BIRDs, expected to be accepted (currently in discussion):
=================================================================
165 Parameter Passing Improvements for [External Circuit]s
189.5 Interconnect Modeling Using IBIS-ISS and Touchstone
Pending BIRDs awaiting discussion:
