Mike,
A small point:
Ian said that the EDA tool must be able to tell what works for a
specific PCB.
Richard disagreed.
Actually I believe what was said is more along the lines of:
Ian asked that if the benefit of simulating SERDES in EDA tools was to
calculate the optimum equalization for a particular PCB, so the SERDES
devices would not have to have the overhead required for adaptive
equalization.
Richard said adaptive equalization would be required anyway, since
channel characteristics change during operation due to temperature
changes and other phenomenon
