Hello everyone,

I brought up the question of how many parameter trees are allowed
in an .ami file in today's IBIS Editorial Committee meeting. This
is what we decided:

For the upcoming v5.1 IBIS specification we will make a statement
in the appropriate place that only one tree is allowed in an .ami
file. This is consistent with the intent of IBIS v5.0.

The idea of allowing more than one tree is certainly a useful one,
but this will require a BIRD. The BIRD would have to propose a
mechanism by which a certain tree can be selected in the .ami file
in case it contains multiple trees. Currently the [Algorithmic
Model] keyword only identifies the .dll and .ami file names, but
not the TreeRootName, without which we wouldn't know which tree's
parameters should be used. The solution could be an additional
column in the [Algorithmic Model] keyword which identifies the
TreeRootName to be used.

We might address this in connection with the current discussions
of BIRD 117 and 118 (the generalized parameter tree proposal),
but this might need its own separate BIRD.

Thanks,

Arpad
