[ibis-macro] Question on APIs in standard languages...

Per the recent discussions on adding a C-based API to IBIS, I have a
question.
At least one of the standard HDLs is now proposing a simulation runtime
API -- VHDL is balloting P1076c (see enclosed PDF "screen capture")
through the IEEE.
If a simulation runtime API became available through both of the AMS
languages, would that remove the perceived need for one through IBIS, or
through a new hybrid specification?
