I use pages exclusively as I started hating Ms. Word in 2000 when it kept
crashing my Windows 98 computer. For the minimal amount of word processing I do
E. G. writing Thank you notes to a cousin at Christmas, Pages is a beautiful
app, and the best part is with handoff, you can use it on your mobile devices
with no interuption.

Ok few points here. First, Microsoft can’t code their way out of a paper
bag. They’re aren’t a more incompetent bunch out there. It’s no surprise
that word runs many times slower, it’s just garbage unoptimized code written
by people who were last in their class.:)
Now as for pages. In my opinion pages is the bees knees. In fact I
like the whole suite including numbers and pages. Runs very fast, clean,
intuitive to use and to your question, very comparable. Extremely easy to
import and export in what ever format you want and interoperates with word
especially well. You simply go under the file menu, select export, select
the format and give a file name and Bob’s your uncle. To import just open
the file. I think you’ll find pages a great editor. I use it daily for work
in a largely office365 environment and it’s served me well. Hope that helps.

Hi.
I hadn’t used the pages Word Processor for quite some time but will have to
look at using it again, Office 360 will only support so many Mac machines
and I have too many <smile>.
I reinstalled Pages onto one of the Mac machines here to test and
refamiliarise myself with the App.
I’m very pleased with the general accessibility and usability of the App
thus far but the big difference between Ms Word and Pages was apparent
immediately when I ran the Pages App, MS Word - for whatever reason - takes
ages to load and execute whereas Pages is fast and snappy.
I do have a question for those of you who may use MS Word and Pages, how
compatible is Pages in a MS Word environment? I mean is it easy to import
documents created by Pages into MS word and Visa Versa?
I’m going to keep work due to the cross platform compatibility - no Pages
for Windows unfortunately - but I certainly no which word processing
environment I prefer.
I won’t knock Microsoft, wasn’t all that long ago when MS Word was
completely inaccessible on the Mac so a reasonable job well done by the
people at the big M.
