oh and the icloud is selected in the accounts for mail under mail
preferences,so wonder why this test email has not come back.
Mail is check in the list of icloud items in system preferences.
while i’m addressing this issue, I wanted to also ask about that pop up on the
info tab for this account in mail preferences, when i vo space this, there is
edit email,would like to know what this means in terms of editing is it for
this icloud account, and if so, can the outgoing name on emails be changed for
this account and if so,how and where do I do that?

You shouldn’t have to make any changes for iCloud settings. They are usually
set automatically. You might just have to VO space on the iCloud server option
in the dialog again.
