There is a popup menu when you go to send a message that allows you to
manually choose an account. You can set it to your iCloud address if it is
picking your other account.

Well alrighty then,
this came back just as always from tx.rr.com despite having icloud marked as
default in the compose tab.
Something tells me that the Mac is one smart machine thus saving me a lot of
switching between email accounts sending/receiving.

John,
I think I found the problem.
On mail preferences in compose tab in the pop-up which email account should
be default to send emails from,I had my tx.rr.com as main default choice,so
by finding the icloud email account, i selected it and then proceeded to send
a test email to myself to the tx.rr.com email but from the icloud
account,this time it worked.
But here’s the deal, until I can make change over of contacts and groups to
new icloud email account, I need to still send from the tx.rr.com account.
So this might be challenging switching back and forth.
I do get a pop-up on all emails I want tos end asking which account to send
from, this was where I first choose icloud, but email never got back to me.
Do you have any other thoughts on this subject that I might have overlooked?
Thanks,
Trish

Thanks John,
I have rebooted, but despite the email showing in the sent folder,it has still
not made its way back to the inbox.

I would try something as simple as rebooting the machine. I don’t know why
you wouldn’t be receiving mail. I have three aliases set up for my iCloud
account.
The edit option takes you to the iCloud website where I assume you can
change iCloud settings directly.

You shouldn’t have to make any changes for iCloud settings. They are usually
set automatically. You might just have to VO space on the iCloud server
option in the dialog again.
