Hello, John,
I need to be able to construct an essay which will be marked as coursework.
Then eventually I hope to use the Lion to sit my exam.
I need to be compotent with the Wordprocessing commands in pages. For
instance how do I select a paragraph? How do I move around a document? How
do I know what size the font is and if it is in a particular style.
The Open University require all documents to be saved as RTF. Point size 12
and Ariel Font. How can I check this specification on a pages document?
I was also told that my external harddrive has to be reformatted to allow me
to save the pages document as a RTF. At the moment I am hitting information
overload and I just thought I would start off easy just trying to obtain a
feel for the Pages document before I start anything too advanced.
Best wishes,
Hazel Flannigan.

Hello,
    The spellchecker,
as far as doing an entire document check, is universal on the Mac. The
command-: combination will initiate it. There are also several adjustments
you can make as far as automatically checking your spelling as you type and
such,, which can be accessed from the edit menu and the spelling sub menu.

There is a font menu when you are working on a document, but I have not
messed with it much. What you need might be found there, though.

Cutting and pasting is a matter of selecting text and using the
appropriate commands. Please let me know specifically what you are trying
to do.

Creating and saving documents, again, is pretty straight forward. You
might be getting thrown off because the template chooser comes up when you
open a new document. Just hit the enter key to use a blank template.
Again, please let me know what your specific questions are.
