[mac4theblind] I am a new member and a new mac user. Questions about downloads and transferring content generated on my PC to my mac.

Hello,
I have had an ipod touch for about a year and a half and an iphone for about
half a year now. I love my Idevices and wanted a mac. My old PC is on its
last legs so last weekend I got a mac mini and am trying hard to learn it.
I've listened to lots of podcasts and read lots and made notes.
I'm learning gradually and am doing quite well but a few things are really
puzzling me.
First, I tried downloading some things and didn't realize that it downloaded
them several times as I didn't think to check the downloads folder and kept
clicking download. How do I delete things I do not want from downloads?
I also have a portable drive that I used to back up my pc. I put a folder on
it called mac and transfered everything I wanted on my mac to it. It has
mostly word documents and some audio and excel.
I downloaded pages and numbers from the mac store but what do I do to transfer
my content?
Just plug the drive in and then what happens?
