[mac4theblind] Is pages free if one updates to Mavericks?

Hi all, I understood from Apple's recent Keynote that if you purchase a new Mac
you get the iWork apps free. However, what I felt Apple wasn't clear on perhaps
its me but if one updates to Mavericks, say from Mountain Lion do you get the
iWork apps free? Currently when I looked at them they had a price tag on them
because I haven't yet brought one of the apps.
So in short. If a person updates to Mavericks, do they get the iWork apps free
or do you still have to pay for them still.
