[mac4theblind] New member, urgent help with iPad Voiceover and screen on/off switch needed

Dear all,
new member from the UK, so please be gentle with me. *smile*
A friend very kindly let me play with his iPad with Voiceover switched on. unfortunately, I managed to turn off the screen with Voiceover still on. So, here we are with a sighted person who can't use his iPad because the screen is blacked out, and I, a blind person who hasn't a clue how to use voiceover. not an ideal combination, I know. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you knew how to turn on the screen on the iPad. Any help would be most gratefully received. This is a rather embarrassing situation for me and I am as you'll appreciate very anxious to find a solution sooner rather than later.
