   If you are comfortable enough around the OS and can work around a few bugs 
without annoyance, Mavericks will be all right.  Be warned, though, that there 
are some bugs to contend with.

   As for Pages, both it and Numbers are awesome.  The updates are completely 
accessible.  I just accessed a Word template I used to use years ago and it 
reads perfectly now in Pages.  It includes two tables and text.
