i asked about recovery beecause i cant start my mac
only a ? appears on the screen

OK, I tested it myself...

With cmd +r the recovery mode is started and I can reinstall Yosemite,
because it is on my recovery partition.

With option + cmd + r also the recovery mode is started, but I can only
install Lion which was installed on my Mac as I bought it.

Looks like internet recovery can be forced even if a working recovery
partition is on the hard drive.

Ciao,

   Christian

partition is working fine?

As written before..., sometimes the system which is stored on the
recovery partition is not the system that I like to install. So forcing
internet recovery would be nice :-).

   Christian

Option-command-r is used for Internet Recovery if you cannot get
command-r to work because your Recovery HD is malfunctioning or is
not present.

Hold down option-command-r during start up. If you do not have
a recovery system available, internet recovery is supposed to start
automatically.

So how can you go into internet recovery as opposed to regular recovery?

Nope . I boot in to the consoul about once a week to repair
permissions on all of my drives just in case. This can be used
for troubleshooting rive drives, etc.

I discuss this in my basic tutorials number 9 at
http://tffppodcast.com/premium and go over how to use some but
not all of the features as at the time I did not know how. lol!

Take care.

if you had a beta installed you will not have a recovery
partition installed. but try this.

1. turn off your mac

2. hold down cmd r.

3. power on your mac.
4. hold down cmd r for about 30 seconds.
5. turn on voice over. It might be very soft. if you get the
propt that says voice over is a screen reader etc press v then
I think hit cmd f5

Take care. .
