Or I wonder if telling your Mac in the Messages App preferences not to sync?
Would that just download new messages that come in and keep them on the Mac?

Hello,
I am used to being able to keep my messages on my Mac, even though I have
deleted all my texts from my iPhone. But since I got my new iPhone 12,
whenever I delete them from my phone, they are also deleted from my Mac.
What setting do I need to turn off to prevent deleting from both devices?
Thank you.
