There's a lot to like about browsing with Safari. I think something that is helpful is getting comfortable with the trackpad. I'm sure we all know that as we got more familiar with our iPhones, we'd find our fingers almost instinctively moving to the correct places on the screen. The same happens on the trackpad, though over a longer period of time, as the Mac is obviously loads more complex than iDevices. Things I like include quicknav, and the ability to very easily add custom quicknav key shortcuts to give it a more jaws-esque feel. The longer I use the mac, though, and the more comfortable I get with the trackpad, the less I find myself using quicknav. Still, it's an awesome feature. VO U also basically performs all the things jaws with the insert function keys. Things I don't like. To be frank, Nuance voices just aren't as responsive as Eloquence. The difference is subtle, but for someone who used to ramp jaws up nearly to max, the difference is extremely noticeable. Also, VO gives you more info than jaws does, so I find myself wishing VO would just shut up. This is true, even on the lowest verbosity setting. Finally, at times, it isn't always obvious when you have to do a specific key stroke or gesture to enter an element, so I'll find myself thinking, "where the heck is that webform?" only to find I have to do a two finger swipe on a frame. Still, once you get settled, VO makes for some great web browsing. As with most things, of course, there's a give and take. > On Oct 8, 2013, at 1:52 PM, "Aidan" <aidan.smarttalk@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Wel, I don't have a mac yet, but what I can tell you if once you use > quick nav, you can navigate quicker around a page much in the same you > would do with windows.
